What is a Prevailing Man? Part 3

Some additional thoughts/descriptions of a Prevailing Man:
1. He loves the Lord his God with all of his heart and his neighbor as himself.
  • Matthew 22:37-40 - Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' [38] This is the first and greatest commandment. [39] And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
2. He fears God and keeps His commands
  • Eccles. 12:13 -  Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 3. He knows who he is and what he has in Christ
3. He is strong in faith, hope and love
  • 1 Cor. 13:13 - And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
4. He walks by faith and not by sight.
  • 2 Cor. 5:7-9 - We live by faith, not by sight. [8] We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. [9] So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.
5. He walks in humility and is not proud
  • Proverbs 15:33 - The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor.
  • Proverbs 22:4 - Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.
6. He walks with a clear conscience void of offense toward God and man.
  • Acts 24:16 - So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.
7. He knows how to ask and grant forgiveness all the time.
  • Eph. 4:32 - Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
8. He walks with wisdom and understanding.
  • Proverbs 3:13 - Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding,
9. He lives with an eternal vs. temporary perspective
  • 2 Cor. 4:16-18 - Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. [17] For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. [18] So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal
10. He does not love this world
  • 1 John 2:15-16 - Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world.
Would you consider yourself a Prevailing Man?
