How do I become a Prevailing Man? Part 2

2. Private Disciplines Cont.
I believe that a man becomes a prevailing disciple of Jesus Christ through various private disciplines in life. They are time in the Word, Prayer, Fasting and Journaling.
B.    Prayer
I love to pray. I have a passion for men to be men of prayer. I once heard my Dad say, "Most people don't believe in the power of prayer".
1) What is prayer?
-    It is the pouring out of my heart to God and bringing my will in alignment with his.

2) What does a man of prayer look like?
-    He prays without ceasing.  1 Thes. 4:7; Col. 4:2
-    He prays daily.  Daniel 6:1-11
-    He prays with his wife…  1 Peter 3:7
-    He prays weekly in small group.
-    He prays intensely.  Mark 9:14-29; Luke 5:16; 6:12

3) Some of my favorite verses on prayer:
1.    Psalms 1, 31, 61, 91, 121
2.    Matt.6:5-18
3.    Matt.26:36-46; Compare Phil.4:6,7
-    V.39- its O.K. to ask for anything.
-    v.39- But it must be accompanied with, "Nevertheless ..."
-    V.44- its O.K. to ask several times.
4.    Luke 18:1-8; Compare Col.4:2
-    Always pray.
-    Never   give up, faint, lose heart.
5. John 17:1-26 The "High Priestly" Prayer
6. Romans 8:26-27
7. Eph.1:15-23; 3:14-21
8. Col.1:9-14
9. 1 Timothy 2:1-4
Would you describe yourself as a man of prayer?
