Delight In. Meditate On-Psalm 1

The older I get, the more I see the importance of these verses in Scripture on meditation on God’s Word.
I think I was first exposed to this idea of meditating on God’s Word from Bill Gothard at his Institute of Basic Life Principles in 1980 in Portland, OR. It also stood out to me on the day of registration for seminary when I decided not to go back to school and drove to the OR coast. I was so lost and discouraged. I went and sat on a tree that had fallen across a stream and I read these words.
Psa. 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (KJV)
HIS FRUIT. HIS SEASON. These are the words that the Lord spoke to me that day. He assured me that He would bring forth HIS FRUIT in HIS SEASON, if I would delight in and meditate on His Word day and night. He assured me that whatever I did would prosper if I delighted in Him and His Word.
27 years later…this is so true and it is indeed one of the most important practices, habits, disciplines in my life.
